Blogging Platforms- Wordpress Vs Blogger

Out of the two most popular blogging platforms on the internet today, there has to be a better blog, right? That’s up for debate. A lot of people say Wordpress is the best because of it’s flexibility and large library of plugins. Others think that Blogger is easier to set up and maintain, as well as gets better search engine rankings because it is owned by Google. Even though this entry won’t tell you which is better, it will hopefully inform you enough to make an educated decision.

First, let’s discuss Wordpress. You can set up a free account, and blog off of Wordpress’ hosting, or you can download Wordpress for your own domain. If you choose the latter, you’ll have hundreds of different plugins and add-ons for your blog, not to mention your very own domain, which is great for search engine rankings. This is typically what drives people to building a Wordpress blog. Compared to Blogger blogs, Wordpress blogs have a wide range of custom templates, plugins, and support that Blogger does not have.

Although Wordpress has gained a great deal of popularity, Blogger is typically the “Old Faithful” of the two. When setting up an Adsense account, or just breaking into the blogging community, Blogger has been turned to by many. Since Blogger is owned by Google, setting up an account, posting a couple of entries, and then applying for a Google Adsense account off of the Blogger makes it easy to set up an Adsense account. This is a technique anyone can use. Not to mension, Blogger’s easy-to-use tools make this platform an amazing beginners tool. Blogger can also have self hosted or free hosted accounts. With the same restrictions as with Wordpress.

Even though they both have their strong and weak points, if you’ve not started a blog, and wish to build an online presence, you need to act now, and set up at least a free account on either Blogger or Wordpress. Building a blog is one of the easiest ways to get recognized, earn an income, and voice your opinion on matters close to your heart. Both Blogger and Wordpress are easy to set up, and quick to begin posting.

As you can see, there is really not a “better choice.” There is only personal preference. You never know which one is better unless you try. You may enjoy the flexibility of Wordpress, or the ease of Blogger. Either one is fine for those looking to build an online presence. But don’t expect them to build themselves - get going!
